Middletown Area High School, Middletown, PA
Architect: Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates, Mechanicsburg, PA
Masonry Contractor: KLB Masonry, Inc., Manheim, PA
The Middletown Area School District, located in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, contracted high-profile architectural firm Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, to upgrade the Middletown Area High School foodservice area. For this 200,000 square foot project, Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates partnered with Trenwyth Industries, manufacturer of high-end architectural concrete masonry units.
The architect’s goal was to design a sanitary yet aesthetically pleasing environment for the students. To that end, Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates was challenged to choose a mold and moisture resistant, easy-to-clean, impervious masonry unit. They chose the impervious surface of Astra-Glaze-SW+® glazed concrete masonry units. USDA-approved for clean-room environments, Astra-Glaze-SW+ is exceptionally resistant to staining, abrasion, impact and chemicals and virtually impenetrable to grease, spray paint and permanent markers.
Available in colors, shapes and sizes you won’t find anywhere else, Astra-Glaze-SW+ also offers design flexibility. Matching the Middletown Raider’s school colors, Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates successfully inspired school spirit through the use of diamond blue and sunflower Astra-Glaze-SW+ glazed blocks. |
